How to Boot the OnePlus One into Fastboot Mode

If you are looking to root and modify your OnePlus One, the first thing you need to do is to learn how to boot up into Fastboot Mode. This is a very simple process and it shouldn’t take you very long to master.

In order to issue commands to your OnePlus One via tools like ADB and Fastboot, you need to boot your device up into Fastboot Mode. So, instead of allowing your OnePlus One to boot up into regular Android, you are going to do something special which tells the device to boot up into Fastboot Mode.

This might take you a few tries until you get the hang of it. There’s no need to panic or worry if you get it wrong. Simple power down the OnePlus One again and give it another shot.

OnePlus One Fastboot

  1. Power Down the OnePlus One
  2. Press and Hold the Volume Up and Power Button at the Same Time
  3. Hold These Buttons Down Until You See the Text “Fastboot”
  4. When You See the Text “Fastboot”, Let Go of the Power and Volume Up Buttons

Explanation

Just like I said, it is very quick and easy to boot your OnePlus One into Fastboot Mode. You will need to completely turn off your OnePlus One. Once it has been powered down, you will need to press and hold both the Power button and the Volume Up buttons at the same time. If you end up missing one of these buttons, the OnePlus One will boot up into Android like normal. This can happen a time or two until you get the hang of it.

One you see the text “Fastboot” appear on your screen, then you can let go of the Power and Volume Up buttons. From here you will be able to issue commands to your OnePlus One via ADB.exe and Fastboot.exe. You can learn how to install ADB and Fastboot in an article that I have previously written. Now that you are able to boot your OnePlus one into Fastboot Mode, you can start doing things like unlocking the bootloader, installing custom ROMs and so much more.
