Galaxy S6: How to Block a Number

If you’ve ever wanted to know how to block a phone number on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, look no further and follow these simple steps.

Samsung packs so many features into TouchWiz that even simple things like blocking a phone number can be difficult to find. At least this feature is baked into the OS though. Some Android devices do not have this feature at all and it is very surprising that it isn’t in all of them.

There are two ways to go about this on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The first one, which is probably the most common is to add a number to the blocked list after they have called you.

The second method is a little more rare, but many people still need to know how it is done. This second method will allow you to add a phone number to the blocked list before they have had the chance to call you. No matter the method used, the end result is the same and I will detail both of them below.

Galaxy S6 Block a Called Number

  1. Launch the Phone Application
  2. Tap on the Log Tab
  3. Locate and then Tap on the Phone Number You Want to Block
  4. Tap on the ‘More’ Option at the Top Right
  5. Tap on the ‘Add to Auto Reject List’
  6. Press the Home Button to Exit

Galaxy S6 Add a Number Manually

  1. Launch the Phone Application
  2. Tap on the ‘More’ Option at the Top Right
  3. Tap on the ‘Settings’ Option
  4. Tap on the ‘Call Rejection’ Option
  5. Tap on the ‘Auto Reject List’
  6. Type in the Phone Number You Want to Block
  7. Then Tap on the Plus Sign on the Right

Explanation

As you can see, the processes are rather simple but it’s not like they are straight forward or anything. With Samsung packing so many options into the operating system, they end up having to bury these features within multiple layers of the UI. Not only can it be daunting to learn all of this stuff, but it is very, very easy to forget something like this, even if you have already found the feature once. Hopefully these tips will be a reference for you if you ever need to know how to block a phone number on the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge.

This, of course, is how to do this on the stock Samsung phone application. If you have downloaded a 3rd party dialer then it most likely will not work the same way. The feature might still be in the dialer that you use, but it’s unlikely that the process to get to that feature is the same. Please keep that in mind if you are using a phone dialer that isn’t from Samsung themselves.
