ASUS is ready to launch it’s next flagship smartphone – the ASUS ROG Phone 8, a gaming-centric phone targeted towards gamers. The company officially posted a teaser image of the device on it’s X(formerly Twitter) profile. the teaser image only revealed the rear side of the device and the camera module.
The teaser image showed that the ASUS ROG Phone 8 has a slightly squarish pentagon-shaped camera module which is different from the one we had seen on the ROG Phone 7. However, just like it’s predecessor, the upcoming gaming-centric flagship smartphone will have a triple rear camera system. Along with the camera module, one thing that is also prominent in the teaser image is that the device has a side-mounted USB Type C port for charging or attaching gaming accessories. We had also seen the side-mounted USB Type C port on the ROG Phone 7 which launched earlier this year.

One thing from the teaser image is clear, ASUS is now moving slowly away from the gaming aesthetic of the device. The rear panel of the ASUS ROG Phone 8 looks more like a normal smartphone. While the rear panel on Phone 7 has RGB lights and gaming-centric looks. However, this is just a teaser image and nothing is confirmed at the moment about whether there will be more devices in the series or not. There might be two devices in the series – a standard device and a Pro device.
ASUS did not confirm the exact specifications of the device but one thing the OEM has confirmed is that this device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The latest flagship chipset from Snapdragon brings performance upgrades over it’s predecessor. So, this device will perform much better than it’s predecessor.
The phone also appeared on Geekbench indicating that the device will have up to 24GB pg LOPDDR5x RAM along with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The phone is also certified to have a 65W wired fast charging by China’s 3C agency.
