To let users post long-text tweets in one go, Twitter is increasing the character limit size soon.

This was confirmed by Elon Musk directly, without stating how much the new limit would be. Well, this is long touted at around 4,000 words, which is a big feat for the platform. Twitter currently has a character limit size of 280 words.

Increasing the Twitter Character Limit Size

Twitter started as a micro-blogging platform, where people are restricted to posting short tweets that convey a big message. While it was all fun and quick earlier, users were eventually forced to post long-text tweets for better explanations.

And this led Twitter to double the limit from 140 words to 280 words in 2017. While this expansion served it’s purpose fairly, this too isn’t enough for the community – as they demand they continue to post long-text tweets in broken tweets or note their words in an external note-taking app and post a screenshot of it.

To avoid this, Twitter is further increasing the character limit size from 280 words to a whopping 4,000 words, reports say. While the new character limit size is yet to be confirmed, Elon Musk confirmed that Twitter would soon increase the character limit size.

This would remove the hassle of using third-party apps or posting broken tweets and sharing the whole text in one essay format – making it easy to read and follow.
