Google Drive app on iOS and iPadOS got a document scanning feature that allows users to scan documents for better viewing.

This feature has been available on Google Drive for Android for years and is now rolling to iOS and iPadOS. Users in the US can even let the feature detect and name the scanned document before uploading it to the Drive.

Aside from storing user files on it’s cloud storage, Google Drive also helps users to scan documents to make them more transparent and formal. This support has been available on the Google Drive Android app for over a decade, and is now rolling out to iOS counterparts.

As noted by MacRumors, the Google Drive app on iOS and iPadOS gained a document scanning feature to let users scan important files before uploading them onto the platform. Rolling out over the next three days, the feature is accessible from the app’s camera icon.

When tapped on, the viewfinder detects the edges of a document and aligns things properly. Further, it removes all the glare and tilt to make it appropriate, ready for uploading. Users can scan multiple pages in one go and make additional adjustments(like cropping as needed) before uploading.

Users in the USA can even receive relevant title suggestions based on machine learning, says Google. Apple’s native note-taking app – Notes, has had a similar scanning feature since 2017.
