Google Meet Gets Voice Indicator to Show Your Ambience Noise Levels

Google Meet is rolling out a new feature called Portrait Touch-up to it’s Workspace users this week that’ll enhance their virtual appearance in the video calls.

Users can enable this feature before or during the call and have their eyes brighten, eye whiten and smoothen face complexion. The part has three modes to enhance accordingly and first rolls out to those in the Rapid Release domains.

Google’s native video conferencing app, Meet, adds a new feature to enhance your face during a video call called Portrait Touch-up. When enabled, this feature will subtly makeover your virtual face, like smoothening complexion, under-eye brightening and eye whitening.

There are three modes to choose between – an off, Subtle and Smoothening variants. While the Subtle option does light cosmetic adjustments, Smoothing makes a noticeable touch-up.

Interested users can turn this feature on in the Video Settings of both iOS and Android apps, available as “Portrait touch-up.” Well, Google is rolling out this feature only to Workspace users having mobile clients, starting with those in the Rapid Release domains. So, if you have a personal Google account, you’re out of luck.

Though Google claims to be adding this feature due to popular demand, it’s simply playing a catch-up game with its rivals. Other major video conferencing apps like Microsoft Teams and Zoom have had similar features for years to enhance users’ virtual personalities.
