Ad-Supported Content on Google TV

Gradually, Google TV has grown to be one of the major streaming players in the OTT market – where it’s offering a bunch of free but ad-supported content to its users. This made the lives of many people easier amidst the growing number of paid OTT platforms – which are even increasing their prices lately.

As they continue to do so, Google is expanding its free channel list on Google TV by adding more options now and in the future. And this week, we have a few more being added – making the total count to be over 800 channels. The new channels are currently available in the US, with more regions added later on.

Google TV sources its free channel list from various streaming services like Plex, Tubi, and Haystack, which stream free but ad-supported content. These are available in several languages and genres. And to make them easily accessible, Google has revamped the TV Guide to organize these free channels into different categories – making them easily searchable.

You can favorite interested channels to access them quickly, later on. The service will even recommend channels if you’re not sure about what to watch. And if you’re subscribed to YouTube TV or Sling TV, or any other over-the-air channels, they’ll appear in the Live tab too.
