How to Enable Call Recording on OnePlus Open In Any Country

OnePlus Nord 3

The OnePlus Open is a highly regarded foldable smartphone that offers a seamless blend of slab phone and foldable technology. If you are a proud owner of the OnePlus Open, you may have noticed that the device comes with Google Dialer as the default dialer app. While the Google Dialer supports call recording, it may not be available in all countries and regions. But don’t worry, we have got you covered! In this article, we will share two methods to enable call recording on your OnePlus Open in any country, whether for incoming or outgoing calls. We will also show you how to record calls automatically and disable call recording announcements. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

Enable Call Recording In Any Country (Google Dialer)

Google’s Phone app, commonly known as the Google Dialer, does not allow users from all countries to record calls. Even in countries where it is allowed, Google announces loudly that the call is being recorded, which may not be ideal for users who simply want to record calls as evidence or reminders. However, there is a way to bypass this limitation and enable call recording in any country. This solution was suggested by XDA member AMooza on a forum. Follow the steps below to enable call recording on your OnePlus Open:

Note: You will need a computer running Windows, Linux, or macOS for this method.

Step 1: Enable USB Debugging

  1. Open the Settings app on your OnePlus Open.
  2. Scroll down and tap on About device > Version
  3. Tap on the Build number 5 to 7 times to enable Developer Options.
  4. Go back to the main Settings page and tap on Additional settings.
  5. Tap on Developer options.
  6. Find the USB Debugging option in the Developer Settings and toggle it ON.
  7. Under the Apps section, turn ON the toggle next to Disable permission monitoring.
  8. Restart your phone.

Step 2: Set Up ADB

You will need the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) to execute commands on your smartphone. Here’s how to set up ADB on different operating systems:

Step 3: Set Up jOneplus Tools

  1. Install the jOneplus Tools app on your OnePlus Open. You can download the APK from the APK Mirror website.
  2. Open the jOneplus Tools app.
  3. Grant the necessary permissions for the app via ADB by entering the following commands one by one and pressing Enter:
adb devicesadb shell pm grant net.jroot3d.joneplustools android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
  1. Go to the Call Recorder tab.
  2. Start the Call Recorder Service and the Call Recorder.
  3. If the unclearable silent notification is bothersome, you can turn off notifications for jOnePlus Tools in the settings.

Step 4: Set Up the OnePlus Phone and Contacts Apps

  1. Download the OnePlus Dialer and OnePlus Contacts APKs from this Telegram group and install them on your OnePlus Open.
  2. Once installed, set the OnePlus Dialer as the default dialer app and the OnePlus Contacts as the default contacts app for your phone.
  3. Do not disable the Google Dialer or the Phone app, as doing so will prevent you from making calls.
  4. If you want to keep making calls, do not turn off the Google Phone app.

It’s important to note that enabling call recording in countries where it isn’t officially available may have legal implications. Before using call recording, make sure to familiarize yourself with the local rules and regulations regarding call recording and privacy.

Enable Call Recording In Any Country (ODialer)

If you prefer a simpler method, you can install ColorOS’ official dialer called ODialer on your OnePlus Open. Since OxygenOS is a modified version of ColorOS, the ODialer app is compatible with your device. Here’s how to enable call recording using ODialer:

  1. Open the Google Play Store and search for ODialer, or you can follow this link to directly access the app.
  2. Tap on Install to download and install ODialer.
  3. Once the app is installed, tap on Open.
  4. Grant all the necessary permissions required by the app.
  5. When prompted, set ODialer as your default dialer app by tapping on Set as default.
  6. Tap on the three dots located on the top right corner of the screen.
  7. Select Settings from the menu.
  8. Tap on Call recording.
  9. Turn on the toggle next to Record all calls.
  10. If this option doesn’t work, you can install the OnePlus Call Recorder APK.
  11. Once installed, the call recording option should show up in the ODialer settings.
  12. If you prefer, you can disable the Google Dialer or the Phone app.

By following these steps, you can enable call recording on your OnePlus Open using ODialer, without any regional or legal restrictions.
