Instagram has introduced Nighttime Nudges for teens, after 10 PM it will remind them to sleep for a healthier life.

These nudge notifications will appear for teens if they’re in the DMs or Reels for more than 10 minutes, after 10 PM, and can’t be tuned off. While they can dismiss the popup to continue their usage, Instagram hopes these nudges will help them to secure a healthy life.

Instagram’s Way of Putting You to Sleep

Instagram today introduced Nighttime Nudges to remind teenagers on it’s platform to sleep by displaying a notification popup on their screen, if they spend more than 10 minutes in the DMs or on Reels.

Saying that this popup will appear only after 10 PM, Instagram noted, “We want teens to leave Instagram feeling like the time they spend on the app is meaningful and intentional, and we know sleep is particularly important for young people”.

Well, this simple popup can be dismissed by teens to continue their browsing but Instagram still hopes that at least a constant nudging will push them to take a break.

This new pop-up works alongside the Take a Break, Quiet Mode and parental supervision features, which work with a similar purpose. Quiet Mode, for example, will mute notifications and automatic reply to incoming messages will say that you’re currently unavailable.

These features are the result of growing mental health issues faced by teenagers on Facebook and Instagram and global governments are pushing Meta to handle them appropriately.
