Leaseweb Disclosed an Unusual Activity in its Infrastructure

Leaseweb, the famous cloud hosting provider, informed it’s customers of a security incident on Thursday, where it spotted an unusual activity in some parts of it’s infrastructure.

Taking offline the concerned systems, Leaseweb started investigating the situation with a third-party cybersecurity firm. Some users have reported downtime in the Customer Portal of the service, which Leaseweb says will be functioning soon.

Leaseweb Security Incident

With over 20,000 customers at all business levels, Leaseweb is undoubtedly a significant provider in the cloud hosting business. Selling it’s infrastructure as a service, the company provides all the tools for an online business to run remotely.

As it’s an important player, hackers often target it to access critical businesses relying on it’s infrastructure. While there’s no major cybersecurity incident recorded till now, the company said it spotted an unusual activity in it’s infrastructure earlier this week.

“Our investigation is ongoing, but we’ve successfully contained the incident, improved our security measures, and haven’t found any more unauthorized activity.”

In an email notification to customers on Thursday, Leaseweb said it’s investigating the downtime in it’s Customer Portal and other parts of the infrastructure where it spotted suspicious activity. Taking the affected systems offline, the company said it’s working hard to restore the critical, including it’s Customer Portal.

Assuring customers that the portal will be live in the next few hours, Leaseweb engaged the Digital Forensics and Incident Response(DFIR) team to investigate the incident. Further, the company says they had robust containment plans to limit unauthorised activity and will be in working status soon.
