Meta’s 2nd Gen Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Listed on FCC

Meta’s next-gen smart glasses made in partnership with Luxottica, the second iteration of Ray-Ban Stories, could soon be hitting the public, as a new FCC listing surfaced this week.

While the listing doesn’t mention any of it’s specifications, leaked features noted Wi-Fi 6, better cameras with live streaming support, better battery life and others. More details on this device could be revealed at Meta’s Connect Conference, scheduled later this month.

Meta’s Next-Gen Smart Glasses

Though Meta’s offerings are mostly software, the company’s got a few hardware devices too, like the Quest headsets and smart glasses. While the former is from an acquisition, the latter is done with the partnership of Luxottica, producing Ray-Ban Stories.

Though the first pair of smart glasses wasn’t a hit, Meta isn’t stopping and is in pursuit of making the next iteration of those. As noted by Lowpass’ Janko Roettgers, a listing for a pair of smart glasses by Luxottica Group surfaced in the FCC’s database this week.

While they weren’t officially mentioned as Meta’s next-gen smart glasses, their partnership with Luxottica reveals the idea as such. While there’s no date on when we could see this device hitting the market, Roettgers mentioned that it supports Wi-Fi 6, has adaptive volume, better cameras with live video recording support, better battery life and more.

More rumours suggest the smart glasses will let you live stream video to Facebook and Instagram and even hear comments from those watching your stream. You can also interact with them by passing comments via audio through the built-in headphones.

More details on this device will be revealed in the Meta’s Connect conference later this month, focusing on the Quest 3 headset.
