Neuralink Begins Human Trials Confirms Elon Musk

Elon Musk confirmed today that the first human patient has received a Neuralink brain chip. The process was successful and the patient is recovering well, one day after the surgery.

Neuralink Corp which is an American neurotechnology company owned by billionaire Elon Musk aims to develop a brain-computer interface or BCI. The company started recruiting human patients for the first clinical trial last year after getting all the required approvals from the FDA.

According to Neuralink, those who have quadriplegia due to cervical spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The initial goal of our BCI is to grant people the ability to control a computer cursor or keyboard using their thoughts alone,” the company wrote in a statement.

Elon Musk did not disclose much about the procedure or any other details. He said in a post on X, “Initial results show promising neuron spike detection”. If the procedure becomes successful, then this would be a major achievement for the company. Elon Musk claimed that one day people “will be able to experience not just your past, but any real or fictional reality”. The company is also facing federal investigation charges for purportedly violating animal welfare laws.
