OnePlus Now Introduces Lifetime Screen Warranty to Address “Green Line” Display Issue

OnePlus 10 Pro

OnePlus stands as a smartphone brand that has achieved rapid success over the years due to it’s exceptional value for money. Nevertheless, regardless of the brand, smartphones are prone to certain issues. A prevalent problem observed across various smartphone brands featuring AMOLED displays is the emergence of a green line on the screen. This issue primarily affects older smartphones equipped with AMOLED displays and numerous OnePlus users have reported experiencing this problem.

AMOLED displays deliver an immersive viewing experience, whether you are engaged in gaming, media consumption, web browsing, or social media scrolling. However, owning a smartphone with an AMOLED display can lead to the appearance of an unwelcoming green line on the screen. In such cases, the sole solution available is a screen replacement, incurring a certain cost.

In an endeavor to attract and retain a larger customer base, OnePlus has unveiled a novel offer to provide a free replacement of the smartphone’s display if the green line issue surfaces. Regrettably, this offer is exclusively applicable to users in India, as India stands as a pivotal market for the BBK-owned brand.

According to a report by Android Authority, OnePlus has committed to replacing smartphone displays for free if the green line issue arises, exclusively for users in India. Furthermore, for individuals possessing a OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 9, the company is extending an additional incentive – a voucher worth up to Rs. 25,500 – towards transitioning to the OnePlus 11. Notably, the OnePlus 11 represents the company’s latest offering as of the present moment.

The company’s official statements say, “We realize that this issue has caused a great deal of inconvenience to the affected users, and we apologize for it. In line with our unwavering commitment, we encourage users to visit the nearest OnePlus service center for device diagnosis, and we will provide free screen replacement for all devices affected by the situation. On select OnePlus 8 and 9 Series devices, we are also offering a voucher that will provide the user with a fair percentage of the device value to upgrade to a new OnePlus device. In light of the current situation, we are now offering a lifetime screen warranty on all affected devices. Thank you for your understanding and support”.

The appearance of a green line on an AMOLED display stems from a manufacturing flaw and has been observed in smartphones produced by different OEMs including Samsung, Apple and OnePlus. This initiative by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is indeed commendable as screen replacement is the only solution for this issue and it is a costly solution.
