Samsung included it’s latest foldables – The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 to the list of devices covered under it’s self-repair program, to let users fix any issues themselves.

The company also intends to add The Galaxy S23 series, Tab S9 series and the Galaxy Book 2 Pro series to the list later this month. Samsung’s self-repair program is done with iFixit’s collaboration, aimed at alleviating e-waste.

Samsung Foldables in Self-Repair Program

As governments worldwide push corporates to manage their industrial waste better, electronic OEMs are introducing self-repair programs to reduce the e-waste – that would let the community repair products for extended usage.

Samsung is a key player in this setup, collaborating with iFixit. The company’s self-repair program includes a bunch of smartphones, tablets and laptops. Now, the South Korean giant is adding it’s latest foldables – The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 to the list.

Samsung said it will add seven more products – including the Galaxy S23 series, Tab S9 series and the Galaxy Book 2 Pro to the self-repair program list this month. All the listed smartphones will have critical parts like display, battery, back glass, charging ports, speaker, SIM tray and other parts available for buying and fixing.

For Galaxy Book series users, Samsung lets you repair the front and rear case, display, battery, touchpad, power key with fingerprint reader, rubber feet, fan and speakers. They’ll also be step-by-step guides to help you repair the gadgets properly.

Started in the US last year, the self-repair program is now available in South Korea, Brazil, Mexico and several European countries. Samsung intends to expand this program further, which aligns with the company’s overall strategy to reduce e-waste.
