After teasing it at it’s unpacked event last month, Samsung finally unveiled it’s Galaxy Ring at MWC 2024, along with some key details about the new product. From the teaser image, it is evident that the Ring is centered around health and wellness. However, Samsung did not disclose many details about the product as of now. Even the journalists present at MWC 2024 in Barcelona aren’t allowed to take pictures of the ring. According to initial reports from media outlets, the Galaxy Ring will be available in three colors: platinum silver, gold and ceramic black and it will be available for sale later this year.

When Samsung teased the Ring last month, it did not reveal much about the device, nor were there any details shared about the sensors on the ring. At that time, it seemed like the product was targeted toward the health and wellness of the users and was competing with Oura.

However, at MWC 2024, some more details emerged about the Galaxy Ring. The Galaxy Ring has a slightly concave shape and is available in sizes from 5 to 13, marked S through XL on the inside of the band. The battery size of the ring will also depend on it’s size, along with the time between charges. Overall, the battery size ranges from 14.5 mAh to 21.5 mAh.

In a blog post, Samsung’s VP of Digital Health, Dr. Hon Pak, shared some details about the Galaxy Ring. He did not mention the specifics of the sensor present in the ring, but according to him, the ring will track sleep cycles based on heart rate, movement, and breathing and will also provide suggestions to users based on this data. Dr. Hon Pak also mentioned Samsung’s partnership with Natural Cycles, which tracks female period cycles and fertility, and stated that this feature will also be available on the Galaxy Ring, as it is already present on the Galaxy Watch series.

The Galaxy Ring will also share data with Samsung’s health app through a new tool called My Vitality Score. This metric is based on four key factors: sleep, activity, resting heart rate and heart rate variability. With this, users can assess if they are at their best or not.

The Galaxy Ring is part of Samsung’s health ecosystem and will be compatible with the Galaxy Watch series as well. This means that users can use both devices side by side to track their health data and gain a better understanding of all the metrics and health data. The Galaxy Ring will be available later this year, but at the moment, Samsung has not disclosed the official launch date of the device.
