Samsung Wallet Let US Students Add Their Digital College IDs

Samsung Wallet is adding support to let US students add their university IDs to the app, making it easier to breeze through the gates with just their phones.

Well, this support is currently available only for select US colleges, but the company intends to add more gradually. Though Samsung is behind Google in the US race, it supports this initiative with over 1,800 universities worldwide, running on Transact Campus function to let students store their digital IDs.

College IDs in Samsung Wallet

Samsung is refining it’s Wallet app to let university-going students in the US store their digital IDs and ease their daily campus life. This is an important addition today, considering how students are leaning toward digital services at the school level.

Well, schools, too, have been doing their part by building infrastructure around campuses to promote using digital IDs, as they did with NFC-based dorm room locks and classroom check-ins. So tuning an app to let students store their digital IDs is a needed hack.

Thus, Samsung Wallet users at Penn State, the University of Florida, Central Michigan University and the University of North Alabama can begin adding their student IDs to the app and authentic themselves quickly whenever required. Samsung advises students to contact their schools directly to find out if they can use the app for their school IDs.

After absorbing the whole Samsung Pay, the Samsung Wallet app is now available in 29 countries after being released in the US and South Korea in June 2022. The service allows users to store virtual debit cards, credit cards, boarding passes, IDs and tickets. The new addition of storing student IDs is based on the Transact Campus function, which serves Google Wallet too.
