As announced in last month’s Snap Partner Summit, Snapchat added the ability to generate funny images on its My AI chatbot whenever a user sends it a snap.
This feature is exclusive to Snapchat+ users, while the My AI chatbot is coming to everyone for free. While this is an interesting addition to the My AI feature, Snap warns users to be aware of potential NSFW images the bot may generate and should be carefully used.
Returning Funny Images From Snaps
One of the many tech companies that experimented with generative AI after the success of ChatGPT is Snapchat, which introduced My AI chatbot for it’s premium users. While the bot can answer several user queries, Snap is making it more fun by adding a new ability – creating funny images from snaps sent by users.
So whenever you send a snap to My AI, the bot will return a funny tune of that image. An example of this was previewed by Snap’s CEO Evan Spiegel last month at the Snap Partner Summit, where sending a dog photo returned a funny version of the same. Another example being, snap of vegetables in a garden was sent and it returned a recipe suggestion.
While this is all exciting, My AI’s new ability could potentially be used for generating NSFW content, too – thus should be careful. Snap itself has warned users that My AI could be unreliable sometimes and thus shouldn’t be using it for making serious decisions.
Though the company said it’ll make My AI free for everyone, this new photo ability is behind the premium subscription – costing $3.99 a month. As for when this feature will be available is yet to be known. Be thoughtful of sending sensitive snaps to the bot, as Snap said that it saves all the content shared with My AI for training purposes!
