Spotify is Testing AI-Generated Music Playlists

Spotify Keep Pausing

Spotify is reportedly testing AI-generated playlists for it’s users, offering customized music according to their mood.

Users can type in their situation to receive relevant music suggestions and edit them for a final playlist. A Spotify spokesperson has confirmed this development but didn’t give any assurance if the feature may see light anytime soon.

As almost every tech firm is imbibing some form of AI into their products, Spotify, the music streaming giant, has also getting on that track lately. A TikTok user found out that the platform is testing an AI-generated playlist with few text inputs.

A video posted by @robdad_ shows that the new feature is available under Your Library after tapping the plus sign to create a new playlist. Here, you can quote your requirements or select one from Spotify’s suggestions, as shown below.

It’s unknown how fast Spotify can generate suggestions based on your request, as the video is edited but we assume it to be almost instant. The platform also asks users to edit the suggested playlist as desired to be more suitable. This testing is currently limited to the English language and may expand to other languages later.

When asked when the feature would rollout to the general users, a Spotify spokesperson said to TechCrunch that “We routinely conduct several tests. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader experience and others serve only as an important learning”.

As we hope to see it someday, Spotify is yet to rollout Hi-Fi Audio support – which it has been hyping for a long time. All these would help the company sell pricier plans in the future and compete better with YouTube Music and Apple Music.
