Telegram Brings Voice Transcription to Non-Premium Users

Telegram

Telegram rolled out a new update this week to add several new features, including expanding the voice transcription feature to non-premium users, but in a limited way.

The new update also brings Similar Channel suggestions, ability to add videos to stories, reposting stories with added content, custom reactions in channels, profile colours and the ability to change chat backgrounds.

Telegram’s New Features

After restricting the native voice transcription to it’s premium subscribers, Telegram is now rolling out the same for non-premium users too, but with a caveat. Non-premium users can only convert up to two messages per week into text, unlike the premium subscribers, to whom it’s unrestricted.

Besides converting voice to text, Telegram’s voice transcription can translate audio into different languages. This feature is gradually rolling out to non-premium users, so fret not if you don’t see it already. This aside, Telegram also added Similar channels – where the platform suggests a list of public channels relevant to your interests.

Further, Telegram premium users can change their profile colours and logos and set a wallpaper for both sides of the chat. General users can repost stories by adding extra content like text, audio, or video, and even post video messages as Stories.

Finally, channel owners can add custom emojis and remove specific emojis to be used in their channel and get detailed stats on the progress of their stories, like story views, shared reactions, etc. All these features are rolling out this week, so keep your app updated to see them when available.
