Recently, Twitter initiated a significant transition, unveiling it’s new identity as “X”. In just a week, the iconic blue bird logo vanished from the Twitter app on Android, making way for the letter “X”. Now, when you search for the Twitter app on the Google Play Store, you’ll find “X by X Corp” instead of the traditional Twitter listing.

If you already have the app installed on your Android device but still see the blue bird logo, simply update the app from the Google Play Store and you will witness the transformation as the bird logo gracefully makes way for the sleek “X”.

The Google Play Store listing of the app offers a glimpse of the revamped appearance as “X”. The screenshot reveals the X logo replacing the iconic blue bird at the top of the app. Notably, the update brings a darker theme, fulfilling Elon Musk’s prior announcement that the app would adopt a default dark mode. Musk himself tweeted earlier, “This platform will soon only have ‘dark mode’. It is better in every way”.

During the transition’s initial phase, the blue bird logo on Twitter’s web version was also replaced by the letter “X”. Musk made it clear that they would gradually implement the rebranding across all platforms. This move hints at the likelihood of the iOS app also being rebranded in the near future.

Interestingly, the domain “Twitter.com” still exists. If you visit “X.com” on your browser, you will be redirected to “Twitter.com.” Despite the name and logo displaying “X” on the web version, it’s worth noting that Musk bought back “X.com”, a defunct domain from one of his previous start-ups, PayPal.com.

With this bold step, Twitter aims to redefine it’s presence in the social media sphere and embrace a fresh, modern identity. The switch to “X” signifies the platform’s evolution and users can anticipate more updates and innovations in the days to come.

In conclusion, Twitter’s transformation into “X” on Android marks a milestone in the platform’s history. The logo change, the darker theme and the upcoming potential rebranding on iOS demonstrates the company’s commitment to staying relevant and appealing to it’s vast user base. By securing the “X.com” domain, Musk has shown his visionary approach to branding, solidifying Twitter’s position as a leader in the ever-evolving world of social media. As the transition continues to unfold, users can expect a more immersive experience on the “X” platform.
