WhatsApp Business Hits 200 Million Monthly Active Users

On the occasion of hitting 200 million monthly active users, WhatsApp Business is expanding it’s offerings to be more flexible for the small businesses on it’s platform.

These include letting them create click-to-WhatsApp ads without a Facebook account and sending personalised messages to customers. The latter’s pricing wasn’t mentioned, but says that it will be in the testing phase soon.

WhatsApp Business New Features

With it’s Metaverse project taking a couple of more years to yield any favourable results, Meta is relying on it’s other products for income generation. The company has recently announced paid verification for Facebook and Instagram profiles and introduced a subscription plan for it’s Quest headsets.

Now, it’s banking on WhatsApp to rake in even the smallest of earnings. Though it doesn’t earn anything from the WhatsApp user accounts, it survives from the business using the platform to connect with it’s customers. WhatsApp Business, the dedicated client that offers several tools for small businesses to communicate with their clients, has just recorded 200 million monthly active users.

This is a significant growth compared to 2020s 50 million counts. On this occasion, the company has announced the ability of businesses to send personalised messages to customers, although it’s pricing was not mentioned. WhatsApp says this feature will go into the testing phase soon.

Aside from this, the company says that WhatsApp Businesses can now create “click-to-WhatsApp” ads without a Facebook account. This is a huge step, as it removes the barrier of having a professional Facebook or Instagram arrangement for creating, purchasing and publishing ads on these platforms.

Both these additions would hopefully bring more revenue to the company. The company is expanding it’s payments feature to more countries to make WhatsApp client a full-fledged shopping app, besides being the world’s largest instant messenger.
