Microsoft rolled out the Moment 5 update to Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2 users, adding new features across the OS for a better experience.

Some of these include enhancements to Copilot, AI features to Photos and Clipchamp apps, faster Nearby Share transfer speeds and new Voice Shortcuts features to perform various functions instantly with voice commands. Here’s more;

Windows 11 Moment 5 Update

Microsoft began rolling out the new Moment 5 update to eligible Windows 11 users, who will get many new features and changes to the existing apps. A prominent one among these is the plugin support for Copilot, where the AI chatbot can now offer more services with specific integrations.

For example, connecting your Copilot with the OpenTable plugin will let you make a reservation from it’s chat window and you can order groceries with the Instacart plugin. Microsoft says that plugins from Kayak, Klarna and Shopify are also coming next month to lock you in the Copilot window for as long as possible.

Users can access system settings like Narrator or Magnifier, view storage space, available Wi-Fi networks, manage battery saver mode and even empty your recycle bin – all from Copilot.

This aside, the new update will make the Snap feature in Windows 11 remember your app resizing habits and automatically suggest layouts for new apps. And if you own a Windows-powered tablet with a stylus, you can write directly into text boxes wherever available. Some examples include the Start Menu, Settings and apps like Photos, Paint, WhatsApp, etc – that support Windows Ink.

For individual apps, Microsoft Photos gained a new AI feature to remove unwanted objects from a picture. At the same time, Clipchamp got an AI Silence Removal tool to cut out awkward video moments. Furthermore, the Nearby Share is faster and lets you set a name for your PC for easy identification.

This aside, there’s a new Voice Shortcuts feature to create custom commands to automate tasks in Windows 11. For example, you can set a rule to automatically open a URL or perform a specific action with a single voice command.

Finally, complying with the EU’s DMA, Windows 11 will let users remove Microsoft Feed as the default suite in Start and replace it with alternatives like that from Google.

Though the update starts rolling out today, not all features will be available right away, as Microsoft says most will be coming in the March 2024 non-security preview update. Make sure to check new update from the Windows Update center to install any pending updates you have.
