DuckDuckGo Privacy Pro: A Subscription for Better Protection

DuckDuckGo to Automatically Block Google Sign-in Pop-Ups

DuckDuckGo on Thursday announced a new Privacy Pro subscription for it’s users – that offers a bunch of features to keep them secured online.

These include a VPN service, a personal information removal service, and an identity theft restoration – which includes an advisor that helps you to restore your lost data online. This plan costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year.

DuckDuckGo’s Premium Features

DuckDuckGo, the privacy-focused browser has long relied on ad revenue to survive in a high competitive market. And since it has now made it’s mark, the company is opening up a new revenue stream – a subscription service, called Privacy Pro.

The new plan bundles a VPN service based on WireGuard’s open-source protocol, and routes all the DNS queries through DuckDuckGo’s own DNS resolvers to even block ISPs snooping on your browsing history.

DuckDuckGo says it maintains no logs of users’ VPN activity and assigns a random ID when users sign up for the Privacy Pro service. This aside, the plan also has a new personal information removal tool, that searches through several data broker sites to find your identity details.

Upon finding any, it requests the removal and also handles email correspondence with them. DuckDuckGo says it doesn’t save the data you provide them during personal information removal, but stores it on a local device.

And finally, the third feature in this Privacy Pro plan is the identity theft restoration – where an advisor would help you recover your identity-related loss. This includes financials, credit reports, and replacing and canceling items like driver’s licenses, bank cards, and passports. The agent will work round the clock to ensure the issues are settled, by continuously following up with the involved parties.

DuckDuckGo’s Privacy Pro costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year, and is currently available only to people in the U.S.
